The new Perth Children’s Hospital is set to officially open in a few days.
The $1.2 billion hospital project will have 298 beds, a significant improvement upon Princess Margaret Hospital. Not only will the new hospital have additional beds but it will also expand upon the existing services with an increase in the neonatal and oncology capacity, an expanded surgical day stay unit and the introduction for high dependency unit alongside intensive care.
Siteworks for the new hospital begun in early 2012 and has taken 6 years to construct and fitout WA’s specialist paediatric hospital and trauma centre.

- 12 multi-use operating theatres
- 10 bed high dependency unit for high risk patients
- Green spaces with indoor and outdoor recreational areas
- Parent lounges on every floor
- Helicopter landing pad at the QEII campus
- Increased outpatient and day-stay capacity
The new hospital will assist in caring for WA’s rapidly growing population and will better address the communities future paediatric healthcare needs.
The emergency department and hospital will officially open on Sunday 10th of June with many clinical serviced moved over earlier to assist in a smooth transition of services.
Medical Sales & Service were successful in winning tenders to supply medical scales, height measure, stainless steel trolleys, examination couches, cots and medical gas equipment including regulators, flowmeters and medical gas blenders to the new hospital.
Our team has been onsite these past few months servicing and commissioning a range of products that we supplied. This has given our company a chance to look behind the scenes and see the hospital taking shape.
